METROPOLIS MOVIE POSTER

This vintage poster advertises the 1984 remake of the famous 1927 German silent film Metropolis which was directed by Fritz Lang. The original 1927 film is generally considered to be the first great science fiction film. 

Italian composer and songwriter Giorgio Moroder reconstructed the film in 1984 with color tinting, fewer sub-titles and newly restored footage.  He added an MTV-style soundtrack with disco and rock music by contemporary musicians. This 1984 version, advertised in this poster, is the one most often screened for audiences today.
