The 1948 American movie Secret Beyond the Door was shown in Sweden as Den Lasta Dorren. Starring Joan Bennett and Michael Redgrave, this film was a psychological thriller in which a woman, whose husband was an architect, suspected that he was trying to kill her.
This poster for the Swedish language version conveys the dark, unsettling mood of this film noir. The woman at the door is clearly nervous as she reaches for the handle. She is looking up at an apparition of a very large man's head floating above her. Flames lick the at the edges of the picture and provide a stark contrast to the black background. Viewers are well warned: this movie will keep you on the edge of your seat.
Swedish painter, cartoonist, sculptor and graphic designer Gosta Aberg (1905-1981) created this poster.
Interesting and rare, this poster would make a great addition to a collection of film posters.
