This charming 1920s travel poster for the village of Ribeauville in northeast France evokes a bygone era. It shows a quaint medieval town, untouched by time, with old-world architecture, a beautiful fountain (the Renaissance Fountain built in the 1500s) and a picturesque town square. Even the town's denizens, as depicted, are dressed as though they live in earlier times.
Almost one hundred years after this poster was printed, Ribeauville, with its ancient walls, medieval houses, Gothic-styled churches and impressive fountains, remains a popular tourist destination. It's interesting that what attracted tourists to Ribeauville then is still drawing tourists today.
French artist G. Troussard (1896-1953) designed this poster.
If you have visited some of the historic villages of France, you will love owning this beautiful poster.
