SWEDEN - THE WONDERFUL JOURNEY POSTER

This vintage travel poster from the 1960s is selling a “feel good” travel experience and doing it well. Here an appealing boy, with his red knitted cap and blue sweater, is sitting on the grass intrigued by a flock of geese.  He’s on a bluff, and in the distance is a majestic, panoramic view of mountains meeting the ocean along a rugged coastline.

The caption reads, “Sweden - the wonderful journey” – a statement all prospective tourists want to believe. Whatever travel experience they are seeking, they will undoubtedly find it on a visit to Sweden.

Published by the Swedish Tourist Traffic Association and printed in Sweden in 1962, this poster features a photo by Hans Malmberg.
