DELVAL FAP ANIS POSTER

If you are looking for a big, bright, beautiful, bold, brash vintage poster that will become an immediate WOW piece on the wall of any room in your house or business, this is it.

This famous poster from the 1930s advertises Fap’Anis, an aperitif made from anis (anise, in English).  But it’s the larger-than-life glamour girl who has the starring role here. She’s dressed up all fancy, sitting in her nest-like orange and yellow poofy skirt.  And she’s holding up a glass of (presumably) Fap’Anis in her right hand; in her left is a  fan of feathers.  She's totally outrageous and knows it and brings this attitude to the picture, enjoying being the center of attention.  Beside her sits a smaller bottle of Fap’Anis, with the identical picture of her on the label. 

In the background is a magical landscape, perhaps at sunset, of blue sky, grey clouds, blue-green water dotted with white sailboats, a lovely orange beach and the twinkling lights of a seaside village.  The vivid colors of this poster cannot be exaggerated; they are stunning. 

Not much is known about this poster.  The woman, according to some sources, could  bear a resemblance to a famous French actress.   And, while the artist’s name on the poster is printed as Delval, not much is known about him either.  Nonetheless, the poster is famous, as only a vintage poster with this kind of visual impact can be. 

Because this poster, at 63 inches, is wider than long (at 47 inches), it will easily fit that difficult-to-fill large wall space.
