"Visit Poland The Land of the Rainbow" is the message in English on this pre-WWII poster. The image of a peasant boy garbed in a traditional Polish outfit is simple and appealing. And the colors used are quite appealing as well, with the royal blue background contrasting sharply with the white outline of his figure and with his blousy white shirt, orange and blue pants and orange and blue hat with its feather.
As with many travel posters of this era, the artist has chosen to present a picture of a figure dressed in the traditional clothing of the country rather than pictures of castles, towns and other tourist destinations. By promoting old world costumes (and thus customs), this poster and others like it appeal more to the public's emotional yearning for travel than to a practical view of travel as a means of visiting historic sites.
This poster makes a great addition to every travel poster collection as well as a great piece of art when framed and hung on a wall.
