This bright, whimsical and amusing poster from Poland announces the 1987 Polish Festiwal Kultury Studentow which is the Festival of Students’ Culture. The words at the top of the poster are the names of all the cities in Poland where the festival is celebrated.
The focus of the poster is of course the cartoon superhero zooming in – most likely to attend the festival herself. We assume she’s female because of her long, painted fingernails and her big red lips. We're not sure why she has a spinning proboscis, but it does make her look fierce. On her sleeve are the letters ZSP which is the abbreviation for the Polish Students’ Association.
Roman Kalarus (b. 1951), an award-winning Polish graphic designer, artist, painter and woodcutter, designed this poster. He is a professor at the Academy of Fine Arts in Katowice, Poland and runs the schools Author’s Poster Workshop.
This fun poster will add sparkle and interest to your poster collection.
