This lovely and very rare Swiss poster from 1930 shows a maiden in traditional dress holding a goblet in one hand and a branch with leaves and red berries in the other. It's advertising a shooting competition (July 5-13) in the Emmental Valley in central Switzerland which forms part of the Canton of Bern. Pictured in the background are a likeness of the Trachselwald Castle and a covered wooden bridge. The valley is famous for its historic wooden bridges and, of course, its cheese.
This poster was printed by Kummerly & Frey, founded in Bern in 1852 as a lithographic printing company, and now a leading publishing house for tourism maps and related materials in Switzerland.
If you have visited the Emmental Valley of Switzerland or would love to go and experience its old world charm (and sample its cheese), you'll enjoy owning this very exquisite and unique vintage poster.
