This German tobacco poster from the 1930s advertises Weisser Rabe white raven cigars. This pack of five (5 stuck), with one cigar partially removed and displayed as though it's about to be picked from the box and smoked, is promoted as EineLiebesgabe - a gift of love. The yellow box with its white raven and red accents stands in bold contrast to the dark background. What is particularly interesting about this dark background is that, on close inspection, you can see that the cigar box is held by a shadowy hand that reaches down from the top of the poster. It's as though the hand is offering you the cigar that has been partially removed from the box.
Hugo Laubi (1888-1959) who designed this poster was a Swiss graphic designer, artist and illustrator.
This poster would be a great addition to any vintage poster collection, especially for cigar lovers!
