This rare poster from the 1978 Spoleto Festival in Charleston promotes an exhibition at the festival titled Visconti’s Film Costumes Exhibition. Luchino Visconti (1906-1976) was a prominent Italian theater, opera and film director. The photograph on this poster is of Visconti (on the left) working with actors Sergio Garfagnoli and Bjorn Andresen on the set of the 1971 movie Death in Venice which was directed by Visconti.
