The most clearly recognizable image in this colorful and lively abstract design is that of a butterfly (“Au Papillon”) resting on the black figure.
Georges Braque (1882-1963) was a renowned French painter, sculptor and print maker. As a colleague and friend of Picasso, Braque played a prominent role in the development of Cubism.
