THE IRISH R. M. POSTER

This droll poster is an advertisement for the 1983 Masterpiece Theater production of The Irish R.M. The caption at the bottom describes the show as being about a British Resident Magistrate "who had to learn the lore to administer the law." The picture of this perhaps hapless R. M. sitting astride his horse but facing backward promises that this series will embody that unique style of British humor aimed at the absurdity of everyday life.

Stanislaw Zagorski (b. 1933), who designed this poster, is a Polish-born artist, illustrator and graphic designer.
