DAVID SHRIGLEY UNTITLED (ELEPHANT STANDING ON CAR) PRINT

This very funny ink on paper poster shows the silhouettes of an elephant and a toy car, with the elephant's two front legs fused onto the top of the car. The caption reads,  "ELEPHANT CHOOSES TO STAND ON YOUR CAR."

British-based visual artist David Shrigley (b. 1968) is known for his cartoons and humorous drawings. His art often portrays bizarre, improbable twists on events of  everyday life - like having your car crushed by an elephant rather than wrecked in an accident. 

With respect to whether his work resembles cartoons more than fine art, he is quoted as saying, "I'm quite happy for people to call what I do cartoons, but I've had a career in the world of fine art for much longer than I've had any presence in newspapers and magazines. I don't see much distinction between the two."

Add some humor to your decor and your life with this poster. You'll laugh every time you see it hanging on your wall, and that's good!  And, some day when something unexpectedly bad happens to you or your car, you can shrug it off and say, "Well, at least an elephant did not choose to stand on my car."
