This Soviet-era poster from 1988 (three years before the fall of the Soviet Union) shows an attractive, smiling woman wearing a hard hat and holding a trowel. Clearly she is a construction worker. Reflected in the trowel are images of high-rise buildings under construction. The Russian words exhort workers to build more housing, with the banner translated as, "Give Joy to New Settlers!"
It makes an interesting addition to a collection of posters from the Cold War era and also to a collection featuring images of working women in the Twentieth Century.
