This offset lithograph from the Museum of Applied Arts in Prague shows a 1932 automobile advertisement which appeared in Magazine Ceskoslovensky Motorista. The ad is for the new model “Junior” from the Czech automotive company Walter. It’s billed as the Vuz Nove Generace – the New Generation Car.
Surely this exciting advertisement caught the attention of the public in 1932 when the world was facing a global depression. The red, very modern, sporty car is speeding up a hill. A javelin thrower in the classical tradition is in the background, poised to throw his spear in the same direction. The message of this poster is very upbeat about what the future holds, at least with regard to automobile technology.
This undated poster, was printed by Poster Electa in Italy, with graphics by Marcello Francone.
