Description
The 1958 movie St. Louis Blues tells the story of W. C. Handy (1893-1948), an African American composer, musician and music publisher who was called the Father of the Blues. An influential songwriter in the US, Handy wrote the first popular Blues song, Memphis Blues. Nat King Cole played the starring role of Handy in this movie, with a blockbuster supporting cast.
This poster shows Handy in profile playing the sax with music notes floating around him.
