MR. BRAINWASH CHARLIE CHAPLIN WITH PAINT CAN NEW YORK HEART POSTER

In this very funny poster by the artist who calls himself Mr. Brainwash, Charlie Chaplin stands before a graffiti-laden wall.  Often pictured as holding a cane in his left hand,  Charlie Chaplin is portrayed here instead holding a pole with a paint brush roller in his left hand.  In his right hand he holds an open can of pink paint. He's obviously just finished his masterpiece -- the wall of graffiti art behind him -- with its images of pop icon Madonna and  a nod to Andy Warhol with his cans of Campbell's "Tomato Spray." 

Behind him is also the outline of a big pink heart and on the sidewalk he's sprayed "New York," in red, suggesting the famous I (Heart) New York advertising campaign created by famed graphic designer Milton Glaser in 1976.  The name "Mr. Brainwash" is signed in the plate along the right side of the poster.

“Mr. Brainwash” is the name adopted by street artist Thierry Guetta (b. 1966). Using his signature Pop Art style, Mr. Brainwash infuses his art with social commentary and blends images of famous people of the past with cultural symbols of today. His often subversive style is frequently infused with humor and sometimes has a lighthearted, almost prankish, tone, as clearly reflected in his choice of "Mr. Brainwash" as his professional name.

Mr. Brainwash's other famous portraits have included those of Einstein, John Lennon, Mohammed Ali, Madonna and Bob Dylan, to name just a few. Along with Banksy and Shepard Fairey, Mr. Brainwash has risen to prominence as one of the most famous contemporary street artists of today.  French born, Mr. Brainwash is based in Los Angeles, with exhibits of his work displayed throughout the world.

Charlie Chaplin said, "A day without laughter is a day wasted." This colorful, fun poster brings to mind the comic genius of Charlie Chaplin as well as the humor of Mr. Brainwash.  Both will make you laugh when you look at this poster, and your day will brighten!
