This rare poster promotes the French government’s milk control board and its role in regulating milk from production to consumption (De La Production A La Consommation). Its dark background, stream of glowing white milk flowing from a bottle onto green letters, and commanding size create a dramatic and memorable image.
Roland Ansieau (1901–1987) who designed this poster was an early twentieth-century French graphic designer best known for his 1935 Berger 45 wine advertisement. He also created colorful illustrations for a 1931 seasonal guide to Deauville, the French beach resort town.
This striking poster, with its spectacular contrasts of light and dark, will add a unique and special presence to every space wherever it is hung.
