If you love Gershwin songs, you'll love this tribute to the brothers Gershwin - Ira ("the words" as the poster tells us) and George ("the music"). Promoting a special Gershwin exhibit in 1968 at the Museum of the City of New York, this clever poster has it all: the images of both brothers and some of their lyrics and music, all displayed on the outline of a grand piano complete with a keyboard.
American painter Larry Rivers (1923-2002) created this poster. Rivers was a jazz saxophonist who studied at Juilliard before he began painting in 1945. His artwork has been described as "unique," as he drew from both Abstract Expressionism and Pop Art.
This is a great poster for a Gershwin lover as well as for a music room!
