Designed and printed in 1968, this silk-screened poster is part of a series of eight posters created by students at the Rhode Island School of Design to protest the Vietnam War. This poster features a face wearing a gas mask (actually, the face is missing), with the question, "Is this the American Way?" appearing below the image.
This series of posters appeared mainly at RISD and on other college campuses. A complete collection of these posters is in the Library of Congress as an example of student activism during the 1960s in opposition to the Vietnam War.
