This very rare vintage poster advertises Takat and DeLuxe brand bicycle tyres by Goodyear in India. It promises “effortless riding & easy rolling” on these outstanding tires, attested to by the boy who is smiling and waving as he rides his bicycle.
The bottom of the poster has the Goodyear name in its distinctive yellow, with its famous Wingfoot logo. Beneath the Goodyear name, the poster adds this boast: “the greatest name in rubber.” It also states that was printed by Associated Printers (Madras) with locations in Madras and Bangalore.
This poster probably dates from the 1950s/1960s. The boy riding the bike is wearing the uniform of the Bharat Scouts, a scouting organization formed in India following its independence in 1947, as evidenced by the logo on his hat.
This poster, rare as well as interesting, will add a unique dimension to every poster collection.
