Prominent artist Christo and his partner Jeanne-Claude collaborated on large-scale art installations occupying public spaces, both urban and rural. These projects, varied and frequently massive in scope, included wrapping the Reichstag in Germany (1995), constructing their Running Fence in Northern California (1976) and installing The Gates in New York City’s Central Park (2005).
This unique lithograph documents one of their early projects, Wrapped Venus, at the Villa Borghese in Rome, done in 1963. This artwork is signed by Christo and numbered (57/200).
Through their large-scale outdoor projects, Christo Javacheff (1935-2020), who was known simply as “Christo,” and Jeanne-Claude de Guillebon (1935-2009) attained fame throughout the world.
