This visually dramatic poster announces the Sixth International Harp Contest in Israel in September 1976.
The abstract depiction of a harp on this poster is spare and elegant, with white lines representing the strings set against a black background. Red letters announcing the contest and a touch of red on one of the strings provide bold accents.
The frame of the harp is missing, but the strings are lined up vertically from longest to shortest as though there is a frame holding them in place. They look almost like sound waves emanating from a harp when the strings are plucked, and in fact the modular, irregular lines make it look as though the strings are actually moving.
This very contemporary and novel visualization of a harp is the design of Israeli graphic designer Dan Reisinger (1934 - 2019). One of Israel's most prominent graphic artists, Reisinger established his own design studio in Tel Aviv in 1961 and began a prolific career in Israel as a painter, poster artist and graphic designer.
This original poster was printed in Israel by Japheth Press Ltd. and distributed in the US by Darien House, Inc.
The black and white abstract design of this poster will nicely compliment a contemporary room decor. If you have played a harp or another string instrument or if you love interesting and unique orchestral posters, add this one to your collection.
