Ghost Ship is an original offset lithograph by artist Ed Ruscha featuring a ghostly ship at full sail, tilting on the foggy, open sea. It was published in conjunction with a 1990 exhibition at Galeria Joan Prats in Barcelona, Spain. The ship is a motif Ruscha used often in his work, particularly as it is pictured here - a shadowy mirage emerging from and disappearing into the fog.
Edward (Ed) Ruscha IV (American, b. 1937) worked as a graphic artist early in his career, gradually expanding his interests to include printmaking, painting, photography and drawing. His silhouetted objects and figures began in the 1980s after he moved away from the text-based work that he is most often associated with.
