KATHAKALI INDIAN DANCE POSTER

This stunning poster from India shows a Kathakali performer in a traditional costume that can only be described as breathtakingly beautiful.  Its orange blouse and white apron skirt are decorated with  intricate jeweled and embroidered accents in vivid greens, reds, blues and golds. The mask is painted with bold colors and traditional designs.

Kathakali is a classical Indian dance with elaborate make-up, costumes and face masks performed by male dancers.

This poster was published in 1958 by the government of India to promote tourism.
