This 1989 political poster by the Green Party in Germany (Die Grunen) was aimed at getting the support of women in the European elections. At the top of the poster are the words Keine Bescheidenheit Madame which, loosely translated means, “No Modesty, Madame.” The German words at the bottom of the poster translate as “Europe Needs Green.”
The colorful design shows a woman wearing a rainbow-colored body suit, with a head of tall red hair and purple shoes, literally kicking up her heels. Her vibrant colors stand out against the dark background, and she has abandoned all of the markings of modesty. What is so fun about this design is that the colors of her clothes create the illusion of a collage made from paper, with pieces of it being shed as she dances along.
The daisy flower on the lower left is the logo for the Green Party.
German designer Susanne Williges-Weichberger created this poster.
