A Cloudy Morning commemorates Earth Day 1995. The illustration of a sleepy-eyed man in his undershirt going through his morning ritual of shaving while wearing a gas mask is amusing, but the poster’s message is quite sobering: imagine a world in which wearing a gas mask is so essential as a part of everyday life that it cannot be taken off even for the few minutes it takes to shave. This Earth Day message, though “masked” in humor, is powerful and clear.
