Celebrating the 25th Anniversary of the National Ballet of Cuba in 1974, this dramatic hand-printed silkscreen poster captures the essence of ballet. With the abstract forms of two dancers drawn in white against a dark blue background, it vividly conveys the energy, grace, athleticism and sheer beauty of classical ballet.
This poster was printed under the auspices of the National Counsel of Culture which was the governing body of cultural policy following the Castro revolution until the creation of the Ministry of Culture in 1976.
Organized in 1948 and renamed following the Castro revolution, the National Ballet of Cuba continues as a classical ballet company.
